It seems some Viruses are on the loose and targeting specifically 2000 windows machines, even though that it is just my theory that only affects windows 2000 machines, but it might be also that they take advantage of some security vulnerabilities in windows 2000 OS, like no firewall protection or the unlimited simultaneously connection windows 2000 supports. So if you notice some performance symptoms on your windows XP Vista machines the best thing is to scan it for Viruses or malware as soon as possible.
If you are running Windows 2000 and you notice some anomalies on your system performance, check the processes running on your computer, to do that, right click on the taskbar, right click it and go to “task manager” and click on the processes tab make sure these processes are not running on your system;
- kiss.exe
- cult.exe
- a.exe
- new.exe
For all full report and details of the processes running on your computer run a program like Ultimate troubleshooter ,it give you 10 use times for free. After you determine that one of more of those services are running, scan your computer with your virus scan fully updated, if you don’t have a reliable anti-virus download AVG and for spy-ware removal download ad-adware and run both as full system scan. If you can’t remove them you might well just do a reinstallation of your operating system.
