For most people, when they need to create a new folder in Windows, they simply right-click and choose New Folder. Pretty simple and straight-forward right? And they would probably laugh if you told them there is an entire program to create just folders.
However, if you’re an IT Administrator, there may come a time when you have to create not one, but hundreds or even thousands of folders! In that case, right-clicking and choosing New Folder would be ridiculously time consuming and frustrating.
New Folder Wizard is a free app that will make your life a lot easier if you need to bulk create folders in Windows.
Basically, you choose a target folder and give the folder a prefix and a suffix. You can choose a starting number and a step value also.
If you want a bunch of folders, but do not want them to just be numbered sequentially, you can create a list of the folder names in a text file and then import the text file into the program.
This is a great feature because it allows you to export values from a database and then use them to create folders. You could also use a program like Microsoft Excel to create own naming scheme.
The program has a large number of features and works extremely fast. Here is a list of features:
- Ability to pad leading zero’s in the file name to keep the length of each folder name equal:
- Ability to copy the generated folder names to the clipboard for easy saving as a text file or further modification of the list.
- Ability to preview all of your new folders before actually creating them, just press the Preview button.
- Create up to 20,000 new folders at a time.
- No installation needed, simple download and run the EXE file from your computer or USB flash drive.
- Ability to use constants in the prefix and suffix, %D and %T, which will insert the current short data and time respectively.

- Support for comment lines in the text files used as the folder name source.

Overall, the program is very well-thought out and takes care of just about anything you would need to modify when creating a large number of folders. Enjoy!

Version 2.x adds the ability to create sub-folders as well. See the screenshot here:
