If you always use your browser to look for the address of places, then maybe you are already using popular tools like Google Map or Microsoft’s Live Map. The Minimap Add-on gives you a suite of built-in maps and mapping tools for Firefox.
By dragging addresses to the map sidebar or selecting a text phrase containing an address, you can quickly generate the maps without leaving the page.
Once you click the map sidebar menu it will generate a map in the sidebar of the browser:
I am very pleased with this Firefox add-on. It is just so useful. You won’t have to open a new tab just to open Google Map and then paste the address to get the map. Now the process is simplified by a single right click on the address.
Since there software add on is using Google’s Map API, it can also be zoomed in and out, complete with a smaller map on the bottom right corner to navigate the main map.
There are other useful additions like traffic information , FireEagle integration, import-export to file, etc. All of them are accessible via the mini icons at the upper portion of the map. You can turn on traffic information and then switch to satellite view for example:
The addressees that you searched previously are also saved automatically saved, so you can revisit them again if you need.
If you ever found yourself on a webpage that has an address, but no maps link, this is the perfect tool for you.
Ben Carigtan shows you how it’s done.
