Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC Review

SpeedUpMyPC is a commercial product developed by Uniblue company, and is aimed at improving computer performance. As I wrote recently in a previous post, I am not a big fan of software marketing to skyrocket computer performance, because most of computer performance problems are the result of bad computer habits, and lack of maintenance.

Also, most software claiming to improve computer performance just manipulate built-in free tools already on the system. Read my previous post on how to clean up your computer ” Three Services on Your Computer you Should Disable to Speed it Up“

This week, my boss gave me a copy of SpeedUpMyPC software to run a test of it on my computer, because he had installed it on his system, but he was not seeing reasonable results. And ya know, you can’t say “no” to the boss, so here is what I found out.

Installing SpeedUpMyPC is very simple, once you download it and run it, is as easy as clicking the next button. You will need to enter the registration key at the middle of the installation. SpeedUpMyPC cost $ 29.95 plus taxes from the Uniblue web site.

As soon as you fire-up SpeedUpMyPC, it will start scanning your system to analyze its performance:

SpeedUpMyPC

Once the scan finishes, it will calculate the optimization level of your PC, and it will give you the options to optimize the PC to the highest level.

When clicking on the Optimization tab, you can see some fancy graphs about Memory usage, CPU usage, Disk Usage, and Internet usage. Also in the optimization tab, is a startup option, where you can disable any startup program from running at your computer logon.

Clicking on the Clean UP tab, it gives you the option to to clean up junk files off your system like, Temporary Files, Lost Clusters, Junk Files, Back-up files etc. Also in this clean up tab, you have the option to remove files that compromise your privacy, shred important files, and remove unnecessary programs.

Clean-up SpeedUpMyPC

Clicking on the Settings tab, it give you three options to configure how the program behaves.

1. Start SpeedUpMyPC with Windows.

2. Show in the system tray when the application is minimized.

3. Start automatic scanning when application loads. the first two are by default, the last one, is optional. You should uncheck all of them.

The verdict about SpeedUpMyPC is that, it does not do anything out of the ordinary, besides the file shredder option, you can basically do all the things it does with built-in free windows tools. But if you don’t have the knowledge enough to use the built-in windows tools, then buy SpeedUpMyPC.

  1. Hi Nelson,

I purchased a license of Uniblue Powersuite 2009. I am not sure if I had any performance boost to the system by the registry booster, I guess the same optimization effect can be achieved by the ccleaner or other reputable freeware. What uniblue are good at is selling the product. But if you are "sold", good luck getting any support on theur crappy product. The customer service is non existing. Upon inquiry they are sending standard message that someone will contact me within 1 business day, including the ticket #. They have never contacted me. Speedupmypc 2009 is not working at all. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

I am glad I read this before I bought, I do need something but I think I will go to the Microsoft Web site and look around there.

    Thanks Again

Uniblue ‘SpeedUpMyPC’ MAY do what it claims to do, but I really don’t like their marketing model. Besides there are other Utilities that are just as good and maybe (probably) better A-N-D are F-R-E-E !!

Here are 2 which my son, son-in-law and I have personally used for some time. We are very happy with them!

I found the three suggestions in the body of the article very helpful. I did two of them….my computer is responding considerably faster. The step by step directions in the body of text walked me right through it.

If I could get some help in removing all the unnecessary SERVICES….I think I'd be good to go. Whatever you name is who wrote this article…thanks for your clear cut directions!

  6. ANBIOM says:

Many thanks to PuterTime – I have not purchased Uniblue's SpeedUpMyPC, but inadvisedly downloaded their 'sampler'. Having decided not to take-up their offer to 'register' I then removed their programs – or so I thought! Every time I power-up my laptop up comes the infuriating Uniblue start-up process wasting my time and slowing down the start – some SpeedUp help!

Any clues how to rid my machine of this pestilence? I can find no trace of the program anywhere, yet up it pops every time. I repeat any suggestions to a non IT expert would be gratefully received.

  7. JIM PATRICK COTTER says:

I have been unable for 2 days to install Uniblue Speedup myPC at stage [Register Now] absolutely nothing happens. Can you help me please?

    Thank You
    Jim Cotter.

  8. axon says:

I found a way to delete Uniblue.

Restart the computer using a different user.
Go to c:program files & find it and delete it.
Log off the other user & log back into your own account.

  9. axon says:

Can I get an answer to ‘Anbiom’ s question? How to delete the trial version? Thanks, if you can help.

  10. Dan says:

I installed UniBlue on my Win7 system but now it tells me "Application does not support multiple user sessions". It appears it will only run if I logoff all other users on this machine.
