If you watch videos or movies online on your computer probably you have wondered how you can watch those videos on your regular TV, well believe it or not that is a very easy thing to do as long as you get the right things. The most economic and easiest way to hook up your Laptop to a TV is with an S-Video Cable, the price ranges from 10 to 20 bucks. An S-Video cable looks like the image below:
There are two types of S-video ports, one is 4-pin and the other is 7-pin, you need to make sure what type your TV has, otherwise you may end up with the wrong cable, check the image below.
If you have an HDTV you will be better off buying a VGA cable, it will give you a much better image than an S-Video cable, and like the S-video cable is very cheap. The cable should look like this image below:

Those two methods should give an idea on how to hook up your laptop or PC to your TV, if you have another method or want to get a more detail procedure please post a comment on this blog. Thanks for visiting.

Hi, Im trying to connect a Dell laptop to a Bravia HD TV. I have VGA connectors, all ok, but when i go to PC on the TV menu the screen is black and there is a message 'no signal' at bottom right on TV screen. I know zilch about computers and only want to watch youtube etc. Also, the laptop has no soundcard, will that mean that i will get no sound when i plug in the audio leads to the Tv? Thanks.

Beyond connecting the cable from your pc to your tv, you will need to switch your video mode from your pc by selecting the fn + f4 keys. Fn is the function key located in the lower left hand corner and f4 would be on the very top row on most standard keyboards. The f4 key should have a icon that looks like a square box with a small screen inside of it.
