Have you ever wanted to stream your music to the world, or better yet, play your tunes to someone you love, but that person is hundreds of miles away? yeah dude, I’m talking about that chick you fell in love with in the chat!

Whatever is the motive to setup an Internet Radio, in this tutorial I will show you how you can use Winamp, a DSP plugin, and a free Streamer to do it. don’t worry, these terms might sound strange for you, but the configuration is simple and fast. in 10 minutes you will be on air.

Things you need to download are:

Once you have them installed, open winamp and click on Options then go to Preferences. on the bottom of the menu under the plugins section click on DSP/Effect plugins currently installed on winamp should show up:

Once the adcast DSP v3 [dsp edcast.dll] is selected, click on Configure active plug-in. the following window should show up:

Click on Add Encorder. A  new “Vorbis: Quality 0/Stereo/44100 disconnected” setting should appear:

Right-click “Vorbis: Quality 0/Stereo/44100 disconnected“ and go to “Configure”

On the basic settings window , you only need to change the following settings ( changes are in bold):

  1. Quality = ““1
  2. encode password = choose your password (we will need this password later)

Optionally,   you can click on YP settings and choose the Stream name, streaming description, and stream URL this things are not required for the streaming (:>

Click OK and save the settings.  Now Open Streamer once it comes up click on the expansion button:

Then click on the Bcast button.  On the station tab, type the name of your station, and click on New ID :

Click Apply. Now click on the Sources tab. and under password “type the same exact password you typed on Edcast”

Click on Save. and get out of streamer, but leave it open. Now go to Winamp, and open Edcast, and click on Connect :

The transfer rate, should change from disconnected to Connected. Play something on winamp, and streamer should start streaming your music, you are now on AIR!  This is how streamer should look when broadcasting:

Now, for your audience to listen to your radio they need to download streamer and look for your radio name. to make that task easier click on Bcast tab on streamer. right underneath modify the code station View info” at your liking:

If you have a web site, or   blog, you can publish your radio by copying this code and insert it on a place you like on your site.
