Internet Explorer 8 has its fair share of annoyances. If you have absolutely had all you can take of its constant lockups, there is a way to uninstall it without having to revert to an older version.
If Chrome and Firefox are enough to meet your browsing needs, then uninstall the pesky program. Just be warned: there are many places on Microsoft.com where Internet Explorer is needed for updates or downloads.
Open Control Panel by clicking on the start menu and selecting it.
From the list that appears, click Programs and Features.
In the menu that appears, look to the left. You should see a link that says Turn Windows Features on or off click it.
From the list that appears, uncheck Internet Explorer 8 (or 7, if you never upgraded).
A warning will appear telling informing you that if you turn off Internet Explorer, it may affect other programs. Click yes.
Click OK. Your computer will restart (possibly twice), and Internet Explorer will be history. You can always reinstall it if you need it later by going back to the features menu and checking the box next to IE8 (so, it isn’t really “uninstalled” in the traditional sense, but it is definitely out of our way).
Who knows—maybe Microsoft will feel our pain and fix some of the problems with IE8 in the near future. In the meantime, third-party browsers will continue to gain popularity.

The above method does not uninstall or remove Internet Explorer. It just turns it off or disables it. And it seems that you cannot uninstall IE like you can another browser, for example Firefox. With other browsers you just remove the program in the uninstall menu then delete the files yourself from the Programs menu folder on your hard disk. But with IE you cannot do this and you cannot even delete the Internet Explorer program file on hard disk either. So it seems Windows users are stuck with Internet Explorer and cannot remove it completely.
