What will you do with that big monster CRT monitor seating at your desk when you finally get it of it? if you are like most of us, it probably will end up at the sidewalk or the trash dumpster hoping someone will pick it up or the trash truck will demolish it to bring it to the landfills, but most likely none of that will happen, and that CRT monitor will stay there for months. it will stay there because nobody is interested in CRT monitors anymore, not even free, and the trash truck won’t pick it up because they make a great effort to keep lead out of landfills. a big CRT monitor can contain more than 5 pounds of lead.
so, what are your options when getting rid of CRT monitors? well, unfortunately museums are not taking them for display just yet, but there are many non-profit organizations interested in keeping a healthy environment that will gladly do the recycling for you. check this list from EPA website on how to donate your CRT monitor and other electronic trash.

1Thats true, in fact, Flat panels are coming in on better prices. Clarity on flat panels are great, CRTs are ancient so say goodbye to that big monster looking monitor of yours on that stressing desk and welcome home a new screen. Besides you wil have more room to place that coffee and stacking papers.
