Here is a small tutorial on how you can kill a few minutes when installing Microsoft Office 2003 by integrating the latest service pack (SP3) and hot fixes into the office installation.
The first thing you need to do is to download the administrative service pack 3 for office 2003 from Microsoft download website from here. once you’ve downloaded SP3 file, extract it to your local drive by typing the following string on the RUN command:
E:\Office2003SP3-KB923618-FullFile-ENU.exe /t:E:\o2k3sp3a /c
Substitute the drive letter according to your computer configuration, for example, if you've downloaded the administrative SP3 to the local C: drive, substitute E: by C: then hit ENTER. The installation wizard for Service Pack 3 should come up as usual, follow the wizard to install it, that will only extract it, not install it.
now, you will need to copy the office CD installation to your local drive, or if its already on your network, copy the installation files to your local computer drive.
copy the files by running this string on the RUN command:
D:\setup.exe /a
if you are copying from the CD type the above command, or if you are copying the files from the network, substitute the path by the network location. this should create an administrative office installation. follow the wizard as if you were installing office on your computer, remember this only will create the installation point, it will not install office on your computer.
now, type the following command to integrate SP3 into the office installation:
msiexec /a E:\office\pro11.msi /p E:\o2k3sp3a\MAINSP3.msp
remember to substitute the drive letters with your system configurations. after the installation finish, you can copy the “office” folder to a CD or move it to a network installation to use it.
