Can’t figure out how to change case in Word 2007? If you use Word a lot, you may have been a little thrown off by the new Office 2007 ribbon interface. Things that were super easy in Word 2003 and XP can be quite hard to find on that ribbon! Once you get used to it, however, it’s really great, but it takes time.
To change the case in Word 2007 is fairly easy! Select the text that you want to change the case for and click on the Home tab if you’re not already there.
Now in the Font section of the ribbon, click on the button that has a capital A and a lowercase “a”’ on it and you’ll get a drop down menu like below:
You can choose from Sentence case, which will capitalize only the first word of a sentence, lowercase, uppercase, Capitalize Each Word, and toggle case, which will switch the capitalization of all letters.
If you want to make more advanced changes to your text other than what’s on the ribbon interface, simply click on the small arrow at the very bottom right of the Font section:
Here you can add effects to your font or change the character spacing as desired.
In this dialog, you can also change the default font for Word 2007. You may have noticed that it is now Calibri by default, rather than Times Roman Numeral. If you want to change the default font to something else, choose the font in the Font dialog box above and then simply press the Default button at the bottom of the dialog. You can read my earlier post on how to do this. Enjoy!
