Yesterday I wrote a post on how to export your inbox messages in outlook, today I will write about how to import those messages back into outlook inbox from the CSV file we created.
while your outlook is open click on File and go to Import and Export:
On the next screen select Import from another program or file:
on the next screen select Comma separated values (Windows)
On the next screen browse to the location where you saved the CSV file you exported. on this window also you have three options:
- Replace Duplicates with items imported
- Allow duplicates to be created
- do not import duplicate items
choose “Do not import duplicate items” and click next.
on the next screen select inbox as your destination folder:
On the next screen click on Finish and the importing process should begin.
that’s it, if everything went smooth, all your messages now should appear on your outlook inbox.

Hi. Thanks for this great post. I was just wondering if the attachments within the emails are also imported back to Outlook?
I read your post about exporting Outlook inbox to a CVS file. I did that, and it was successful. Thanks for that post, too.
I have the same question as caterine101?
