Its been almost a year that I been using this Dell XPS 1210 laptop, and due to my short span attention problem I normally give up on new gadgets very quick, but this laptop has managed to keep me in love for all this time.
Even though not as light weight as the Latitude D430 the XPS 1210 is comfortable portable weighing only 4.4-pounds measuring 11.7 inches wide, 8.7 inches deep, and 1.4 inches thick. this laptop should appeal to everyday heavy users who want a relatively light but high performance system.
Since I got this XPS M1210 laptop I have installed Windows Vista one time and Windows XP 2 times. Nothing wrong with the system, I’m just a heavy tester (:> the M1210 is Windows Vista capable so if you want to upgrade to Windows Vista from windows XP, it cost you nothing as long as you use a Dell certified vista CD.
I run Apache server, and a MYSQL database for my wordpress and Joomla testing sites, and on top of that I run all my work applications, Outlook, Word, IT apps, etc. Amazingly the performance does not degrade a bit.
With a Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83 GHz processor this XPS M1210 does not appear to be a heavy performance system, but don’t let the 1.83 GHz number fool you, with a 667 MHz bus speed, and Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology support, this processor cranks. The Dell XPS M1210 comes with 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM PC4300 533MHz RAM, which is enough for most of normal tasks, and not so normal like mine (:>
The Dell XPS M1210 features a shiny 12.1-inch display with its native 1280 by 800 resolution gives a good experience when occasional watching videos or movies. above the display sits an optional 1.3-megapixel Webcam with a directional microphone; those are optional for entertainment purposes.
The XPS M1210 features a full keyboard with full keys, a touch pad with two buttons, right-click and left-click, a 7 blue glowing buttons on the front edge, to control the playing audio, change tracks, or control volume. the XPS 1210 also comes well equipped with useful ports, jacks and slots. 4 USB 2.0 ports, 4-pin 1394 (firewire) port, a VGA connector for external monitor, and a S-video port.
Underneath the CD-ROM/DVD sits a ExpressCard slot and a five-in-one media card reader that recognizes Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, and xD formats. Networking options include modem, Ethernet, and 802.11a/g Wi-Fi.
XPS M1210 features Dell’s MediaDirect software, which plays CDs and DVDs and lets you access photos and other media files stored on your hard drive without booting up Windows.
The XPS 1210 original price was around 2,000 bucks, but since then the price has lower down a lot, and is not available directly from Dell’s site anymore, but you might be able to bargain around for it.

hello!
I have a problem with my XPS m1210 laptop. After my laptop was idle for 5 months, when i tried to use it, i found my vista OS not functioning. It just hangs up during loading of Windows Vista. When i tried to reinstall the OS, installation was interrupted and it could not complete. But when i tried to install WinXP, the installation was successful but it won’t work on normal mode. I could only use it in Safe Mode. Can someone help me with my problems…. please guys….
