By default, the Run command is not visible on the Start Menu in Windows Vista unless you are using the classic Start menu. If you love the new Aero theme, switching to the classic style is not an option.
Having the Run command available is a basic necessity for more advanced users who routinely access the Windows registry, etc. You can also quickly access the command prompt if you have the run command already on the Start menu.
In this article we will show you how to use the Local Policy Editor to enable the Run command button on the Start menu.
To add the Run command on the Default Vista Start Menu follow these steps:
· Click on Start and type GPEDIT.MSC on the search box of the start menu and hit enter.
· This will open the Local Group Policy Editor window
· In the Local Group Policy Editor window expand User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Task Bar. On the right pane of the window double click on Add the Run command to the Start Menu setting. This will open the Setting properties window.
· In the Properties window click on Enabled and click OK
· After this procedure you will be able to see the Run command on your default Vista Start Menu.
