If you do delete the files, do not delete layout.ini otherwise you will screw up prefetch. It will take a command to restore it, which I have forgotten now.

You really don't have to delete the files. Since upgrading to an i7 processor (but never before) I have been having BIG problems with things not working properly on the computer. Programs only partially working, clock going slow, mouse double clicking when I only click once, and many other niggly things.
I have to keep rebooting to make things work and a message keeps coming up that GT watch is not responding, so I close that and it comes up again and again. I then have to crash out the computer.
I have traced this back to Windows Prefetch. Can't remember seeing it in here before the upgrade to i7.
I'll keep looking for a solution. I gave the registry a checkout as you suggested above. The value is set to 3 {0x00000003 (3)}.

Hi,

Since upgrading to an i7 processor (but never before) I have been having BIG problems with things not working properly on the computer.
