Many times there is the necessity to burn or create an ISO image to make a CD bootable; I do this all time when modifying windows installation files. Most CD/DVD recorders like NERO, ROXIO and XPCDBURNER can do this, but if you want a light windows integrated ISO creator or burner, you should look into ISO recorder.

ISO recorder is a tool (power toy) that integrates the ability of burning CD/DVD ISO images in windows XP, Server 2003 and Windows Vista without using full third parties software. Only Windows vista supports DVD ISO creation or burning.

Download ISO recorder from here after you install the ISO recorder there is no program group created, because ISO recorder uses extensions from the windows shell which means that provides additional options in the right click file menu. To create a CD with ISO recorder, right click on an ISO image and selec”copy image to CD”

After selecting the option above, another window like the image below should pop-up:

If you noticed the image above, the NEXT and FINISH buttons are grey-out, that means that the media inserted is not right, ISO recorder will let you know what is the problem in a message window, in this case is displaying that the media is not blank, if you are using a re-writable media you can erase the previous data, if not, you will nee to insert a new blank media, which should produce a windows like the image below:

Click next to start the process of burning the CD image, you should get a progress bar and a finish button after it finishes burning the image.

How to create an ISO image

To create a disc image insert a CD (DVD) into a drive and right-click on it choosing Create Image from CD option

Disk images are normally saved with a .iso extension but you can choose any extension you like. ISO recorder does not support audio or video CDs.
