Many thanks this solved my problem in a few minutes.
The new installation of NIS 2012 that I carried out over the top of the existing NIS 2012 must have changed the permissions in the registery. Once I reset these the device manager came back to life - and after rebooting I had all my network connections again.
The only thing I had to change was the final step to tick "Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects" and OK it.
Thanks again

I have tried all your methods will no results... tried several other little tricks, but again nothing.
I really do not want to have to start with a clean system again.
Thanks in advance for any help you be able to offer

I am having the same issue… win7 initialy allowed my to do everything fine, now as an administrative user I can’t do or see anything like everyone else.

I have tried all your methods will no results… tried several other little tricks, but again nothing.

I really do not want to have to start with a clean system again.

Thanks in advance for any help you be able to offer

By: Chris

<guid

That's it and it works. All my drives are visible in the device manager.

Here’s the solution, go to “C:\Windows\System32\” locate your “svchost.exe” then right click select run as administrator. And lastly, restart your computer.
