Windows Error Messages and Their Meanings

Invalid partition table
Error Loading Operating System
Missing Operating System

THese messages above are displayed by the program in the MBR when it cannot find the active partition in the hard drive, or the boot sector on that partition. Use FDISK or Diskpart from a command prompt to check the hard drive partition table for errors. Some times fdisk/mbr might solve the problem. Third party application like partitionMagic might help.

A disk read error occurred
NTLDR is missing
NTLDR is compressed

Check the floppy drive, probably you left a disk there, when booting from the hard drive these errors occur; if the Ntldr has been moved, renamed, or deleted, or is corrupted. If the active partition of the drive is corrupt replace the NTLDR and check the boot.ini settings.

An Error is displayed in the text against a blue screen and then the system halts. This is normally the blue screen called THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.  

Stop errors are caused by viruses, errors in the file system. A corrupt hard drive, or hardware problem.

Stop 0×00000024 or NTFS_FILE_SYTEM

The file system is corrupt. Boot to the recovery console and backup any critical data you might have on that system before you start troubleshooting.Stop 0×000000050 or Page_Fault_in_Nonpage_Area

Physical Memory is defective

Stop 0×00000077 or Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error

There is a bad sector on the hard drive where the paging file is stored, there might be a virus or defective memory, trying running Chkdsk

Stop 0×00000007A or Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

Mostly a virus or defective memory

Stop 0×0000007B or Inaccessible_Boot_Device

Run fixmbr
