Are you getting this error every time you want to boot your computer:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
Unmountable Boot Volume
To fix this boot error, you need to have your Windows installation CD. Insert the CD on the CD-ROM and start your computer. When it ask you to PRESS any key to boot from the CD-ROM press any key. If you don’t get this option, you need to change the boot sequence on the BIOS of your computer.
When you turn on your computer it should tell you what key you need to press to get to the BIOS, once you are at the BIOS settings, look for “Boot sequence” boot order” something like that, and make the CD-ROM to be the first in the boot order, or sequence. save the settings and reboot.
Once the CD start loading, eventually you will get to a window screen that says “Welcome to Setup” screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console
Press R to start the recovery console. If it ask you for any password, put the administrator password and press ENTER. once you get to the command prompt type the following command :
chkdsk /r
Press ENTER.
Once the process has been completed, type Exit at the command prompt, and restart your computer. Now the computer should load fine.
My pc never came with the installation cd, and I have no floppy drive to download that way. Is there any way I can obtain a cd, download possibly?
The hard drive is BAD, IF, this does not work. Trust me.
i get to a command prompt that reads k:minint and is followed by a question – which windows installation would you like to logon to (to cancel press ENTER)?
when i try to type the chkdsk command, the prompt only accepts one character. can someone help?
