This is part 4 of our series on how to Increase Computer Performance, if you landed to this page from a search engine or referral site, please read the series from the beginning to check what we been up to on this subject. Thanks for reading.
Today we will talk about the computer performance itself, and how you can uncheck a couple of default options to increase the performance of your system a bit. On the performance options by default Windows is configure to manage the visual Effects, changing that to custom and leaving just the last 3 little squares checked will increase the computer performance and without changing the look of your desktop.
To change that option go to My Computer right click it and go to Properties click on the advanced tab and click on settings on the performance option, select the visual effects tab and uncheck all the options but the last 3 ones, in order to not change the appearance of your windows you should leave checked;
Use common tasks in folders
Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop
Use visual styles on windows and buttons
Of course if you don’t care about the appearance of you windows you can uncheck them all and increase your compute performance even better, that basically will disable your windows theme. Believe it or not themes are really computer performance suckers the same goes for desktop backgrounds if don’t care you should avoid them
