Remote Desktop Cannot Verify the Identity of the Computer you Want to Connect to Error

For some reason after updating windows XP to SP3 you get a weird error when trying to connect remotely to a remote desktop enabled computer, the error reads:

The connection cannot proceed because of Remote Desktop cannot verify the identity of the computer you want to connect to. this problem can occur if:

1. The remote computer is running a version of Windows tat is earlier than Windows Vista.

2. The remote computer is configured to support only the RDP security layer.

Contact your network administrator or the owner of the remote computer for assistance.

Here is the exact error message image:

The reason you get this error is because you are using a newer version of remote desktop than what the remote computer is using. to connect regardless of any authentication process, set your remote desktop client to connect even if there is not authentication.

On Remote Desktop go to Options then click on the Advanced tab and under “if the actual verification does not meet minimum policy requirements”choose Connect and don’t warn me.

Now remote desktop should be able to connect.
