Probably you have noticed when you buy a new computer these days that they come full of free trial software and programs and most of the time you don’t use them, and probably you never will. Those icons on your desktop make the screen look really clutter and most of all they take a lot of hard drive space on your system, you need to get rid of them for your computer to perform better. Here is what you need to do;
Make sure no unnecessary software is running in the start-up so is not actively taking memory on your computer, go to START>RUN> and type “MSCONFIG> and then hit ENTER,
Make sure only the programs you need are checked there, like, Anti-virus, spy ware remover, and if you have a laptop make sure you don’t uncheck touch pad, wireless button, sounds, etc. hit apply and restart the computer.
Now you will need to remove the free trial software programs, to do this go to START>CONTROL PANEL >*please notice this could different on some windows versions or settings* on control panel click on “ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS

From there you can remove any program you don’t need.
Probably you will need to do a defrag and disk clean-up on your hard drive to optimize it, please refer to one of my old posts about this http://helpdeskgeek.com/index.php/how-to-make-windows-run-faster/ and http://helpdeskgeek.com/index.php/scripting-windows-xp2003-defrag/ . Be safe.
