As a power user, I am always thrilled with Windows tweaks.  Some tweaks are only cosmetic but some really make sense for efficient computing.

When I downloaded Anvir Task Manager, a free task manager program from Anvir.com, I noticed that it came with a program called Vista / XP Tweaker which allows users to do really cool Windows tweaks like removing a user’s name from the Start menu and disabling the sending of error reports to Microsoft.

To use the software, open XP Tweaker in the Anvir group of programs.

On the Vista /XP Tweaker window you can see icons on the left side and check box items on the right.  Check/uncheck a tweak that you want to enable/disable.  For example, if you want to enable Boot Defrag check the box next to it, see example below:

Another practical example for using this tool is the protection options.  Click the lock icon labeled “Protect” then choose among the options listed. This way you can tweak Windows behaviors without using regedit thus making the tweaking process simpler and easier for beginner to pickup.

After you are done tweaking, click the Apply button at the lower right portion of the window.  A restart is necessary for tweaks that involves system registries.

With Anvir’s XP / Vista Tweak, users will not have a hard time executing intermediate and even advanced tweaks on their Windows system.  The process of manually searching and editing registry values is removed so it is safer than traditional regedit.
