“Samsung Quick Share not working” usually means your PC has the wrong app, can’t find your phone, or stalls during a transfer. Check your PC model first, since Galaxy Books and other Windows PCs use different apps.

Quick Diagnosis

Fix #1: Restart Quick Share and Both Wireless Connections

If your devices connected before but can’t find each other now, reset both wireless links.

Quick Share uses Bluetooth to find nearby devices and Wi-Fi to send files. A fault in either connection can empty the device list or freeze a transfer.

  • Close Quick Share on the PC and phone.
  • Open Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off.
  • Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices and turn Bluetooth off.
  • Wait 10 seconds, then turn both features back on.

  • On Android, swipe down twice to open Quick Settings.
  • Turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, and turn them back on.

  • Unlock both devices, place them close together, and reopen Quick Share.

Test the connection with a small text file or copied image. Avoid personal photos, financial records, and other sensitive files while testing.

Fix #2: Install the Correct Quick Share App

Quick Share can open normally and still be the wrong app for your PC. This mix-up often happens after switching between a Galaxy Book and another Windows PC.

Samsung Quick Share and Google Quick Share are separate Windows apps. They also have different hardware rules.

  • Open Settings > System > About.
  • Check the model and System type under Device specifications.
  • Check the Windows edition, version, and build under Windows specifications.
Settings System About page showing model, System type, Windows edition, version, and build, with device name and product identifiers obscured
  • If the maker isn’t clear, press Windows + R, enter msinfo32, and select OK.
  • Read System Manufacturer and System Model in System Information.
  • Choose the app that matches your PC:

Non-Samsung Windows PCGoogle Quick Share from the official Android website
Non-Samsung PC with compatible Intel wireless hardwareGoogle Quick Share is normally preferred; Samsung Quick Share may support some configurations

Google Quick Share doesn’t support Samsung PCs. A Galaxy Book needs Samsung Quick Share from Microsoft Store.

  • On a Samsung PC, open Microsoft Store, search for Quick Share, and select Samsung’s listing.

  • Remove the wrong app through Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Then install the correct one.

Open Quick Share from Start. Its main window should load without a compatibility warning.

Common Quick Share Issues and Solutions

Fix #3: Check Windows and Wireless Requirements

Quick Share may fail to install, close at once, or show no devices if your PC doesn’t meet its requirements.

Check Windows first, then the physical wireless adapters. Virtual adapters don’t count.

  • Return to Settings > System > About.
  • Confirm that Samsung Quick Share has Windows 10 version 2004, build 19041, or later.
  • For Google Quick Share, confirm that the PC has 64-bit Windows 10 or later.
  • If the PC uses an ARM processor, confirm that it runs Windows 11 or later.
  • Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Network adapters, then open the physical Intel Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Select Driver and note the driver version.

  • Expand Bluetooth, open the Intel Bluetooth adapter, and select Driver.

Samsung lists these minimum Intel driver versions:

  • Intel Bluetooth: 22.50.02 or later
  • Intel Wi-Fi: 22.50.07 or later
  • On a Galaxy Book, open Samsung Update and install available Wireless LAN and Bluetooth updates.

  • On another PC, download approved drivers from the PC maker.
  • Restart Windows after installing the drivers.

Reopen Quick Share and wait up to one minute. The other device should appear without constant refreshing.

Fix #4: Change Device Visibility

Your Samsung phone won’t find the Windows PC if its visibility setting blocks the phone.

This setting can also cause one-way sharing. Windows may send files but refuse incoming transfers.

  • Open Google Quick Share normally on the non-Samsung PC.
  • Select Settings > Device visibility.
  • Choose Everyone for a quick test.

  • For a private setting, choose Contacts for a known contact. Choose Your devices if both devices use the same Google Account.
  • Avoid No one while receiving a file.
  • Keep the Quick Share window open during the test.

  • On a Samsung phone, open Settings > Connected devices > Quick Share.
  • Open Who can share with you and choose an option that includes the Windows PC.

  • Change Everyone back to a private option after testing.

Open the phone’s Quick Share picker again. Check that the PC appears with the correct device name.

Fix #5: Confirm the Request and Matching PIN

“Waiting for recipient to accept” means the other device still needs approval. A locked screen or wrong PIN can also stop the transfer.

Check the device name before accepting. Other nearby Quick Share devices may appear in the same list.

  • Cancel the pending transfer.
  • Unlock both devices.
  • Send one small, non-sensitive file again.
  • Select the intended recipient in the device picker.
  • Compare the PIN shown on both screens, if prompted.
  • Reject the request if the PINs don’t match.
  • Select Accept on the receiving device when the PINs match.

  • Keep both screens awake until the transfer finishes.

Open the received test file and check its contents. A full progress bar doesn’t prove the file arrived intact.

Fix #6: Disconnect VPN and Virtual Network Adapters

A transfer that starts and stalls may have lost its local network path. VPN software and virtual adapters can disrupt that connection.

Users report this behavior, but it doesn’t cause every stalled transfer. Use this step as a controlled test.

  • Move the devices closer together.
  • Disconnect the active VPN through its app.
  • Retry the harmless test file.
  • If it still stalls, right-click Start and open Device Manager.
  • Expand Network adapters.
  • Find only the adapter tied to the VPN or virtual machine software.
  • Right-click that virtual adapter and select Disable device.
  • Leave the physical Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters enabled.
  • Test Quick Share again.
  • Right-click the virtual adapter and select Enable device after the test.

Transfer the test file twice. If both attempts work only without the VPN, check its local network setting or contact the provider.

Fix #7: Update, Repair, or Reinstall the Correct App

Quick Share may crash, freeze, or forget its visibility settings when app files are damaged. The same problem can appear after an update.

Try Repair before Reset. Reset clears local settings, so you’ll need to set visibility again.

  • Install pending updates through Settings > Windows Update.
  • Update Samsung Quick Share through Microsoft Store on a Samsung PC.
  • Download the current Google Quick Share installer from the official Android site on a non-Samsung PC.
  • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  • Find the Quick Share app made for your computer.
  • Open its three-dot menu and select Advanced options, if available.
Installed apps page showing the relevant Quick Share entry, three-dot menu, Advanced options, and Uninstall
  • Select Repair and test the app.
  • If Repair fails, select Reset. This clears local settings, so set visibility again.
Quick Share Advanced options page showing Repair and Reset, with a note that Reset clears local app data
  • If those controls are missing or don’t work, uninstall only the Quick Share app.
  • Restart Windows.
  • Reinstall Samsung Quick Share from Microsoft Store on a Samsung PC. On a non-Samsung PC, reinstall Google Quick Share from the official Android page.
  • Open Google Quick Share normally. Don’t select Run as administrator.

Transfer one small test file in each direction you use. This check can catch one-way problems before you send a larger file.

Platform-Specific Issues

Fix #8: Check Windows Security and App Permissions

If Quick Share works only when Windows Firewall is off, an app rule or damaged installation is likely blocking it.

Keep the firewall on. Turning it off exposes the PC and only confirms that security filtering affects the connection.

  • Open Windows Security > Firewall & network protection.
  • Confirm that Microsoft Defender Firewall is on for the active profile.
Firewall and network protection page showing the active network profile and Microsoft Defender Firewall enabled
  • Leave Windows Firewall enabled throughout testing.
  • If Windows asks for network access, check that the prompt names the installed Quick Share app. Then allow it on the needed network profile.
  • Don’t create broad inbound rules or open random ports.
  • Check third-party security software for a notice that names Quick Share.
  • Update or reinstall the correct Quick Share app if you can’t find an app-specific control.

Run the test transfer with Windows Firewall enabled. If it works, leave the firewall setting alone.

Fix #9: Reset Quick Share on Android

If every Windows check passes but one Samsung phone still can’t send or receive, its Quick Share settings may be stuck.

I’d save Clear data for after a phone restart. It resets the local setup and leaves you with some settings to redo.

  • Open the phone’s Settings > Connected devices > Quick Share.
  • Review Who can share with you.
  • Restart the phone and test again.
  • If the problem remains, open Settings > Apps.
  • Enable Show system apps from the filter or menu.
  • Select Quick Share > Storage.
  • Select Clear data.
Android Quick Share Storage page showing Clear data, without account details or personal device names
  • Reopen Quick Share and set visibility again.

Clearing Quick Share data is a Samsung community fix, not a standard official requirement. It removes local Quick Share settings but leaves your photos and documents alone.

Send a harmless file from the phone to Windows. Check that Windows receives and opens it.

Configuration Issues

Fix #10: Correct Common Quick Share Setup Mistakes

A correct-looking installation can still fail because of one setup choice. Administrator mode, No one visibility, and the wrong Windows app are the usual traps.

Check this list once before blaming the wireless adapter.

  • Confirm that a Galaxy Book uses Samsung Quick Share from Microsoft Store.
  • Confirm that a non-Samsung PC normally uses Google Quick Share.
  • Open Quick Share from Start without choosing Run as administrator.
  • If a shortcut always runs the app as administrator, right-click it. Open Properties > Compatibility.
  • Clear Run this program as an administrator.
  • Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices.
  • Set visibility to include the intended sender.
  • Keep the devices unlocked and nearby.
  • Keep Windows Firewall enabled.

Complete a small transfer, close Quick Share, and reopen it normally. Repeat the transfer to check that the settings remain after an app restart.

Getting Help

Contact support when Device Manager shows an unsupported wireless adapter or no compatible driver is available. Do the same if Quick Share still fails after a clean reinstall. Collect these details first so support can act faster.

  • Record the PC maker, model, Windows version, build, and system type from msinfo32.
  • Record the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapter names and driver versions from Device Manager.
  • Note which Quick Share app is installed and where you got it.
  • Record the exact error text and whether sending, receiving, or both fail.
  • Check Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Application for entries created when the failure occurred.
  • Contact Samsung Support for a Galaxy Book or Samsung Quick Share issue.
  • Use Google Quick Share Help for Google’s Windows app.
  • Contact the PC maker if it doesn’t offer a compatible wireless driver.

If the adapter is unsupported, use Google Quick Share on an eligible non-Samsung PC or choose another transfer method. A USB-C data cable, external SSD, or approved USB Wi-Fi adapter may be more reliable than weaker network security. Official sources don’t list Quick Share support for macOS, so a Mac can’t run the Windows app.

Prevention Tips

  • Keep Windows, Quick Share, and approved wireless drivers current.
  • Use only the Quick Share app made for the PC brand.
  • Change Everyone back to Contacts, Your devices, or another private option after receiving a file.
  • Keep Windows Firewall enabled.
  • Disconnect a VPN only for a controlled test, then reconnect it.
  • Open important files after each transfer before deleting the originals.
  • Use a short USB-C cable for large transfers in crowded wireless areas.
